Review

I am a big MMA fan, so I jumped at the chance to review this novella about a female amateur MMA fighter.  This is the first book I've read that has been based in the fighting world, and I was really impressed and will be reading more by this author.  Sarah Castille has created a world filled with hot fighters who are like a big family.  Steamy and intense with some humorous banter, Yield to Me is a fun short read that is sure to appeal to MMA fans - and fans of hunky, muscly men.

Marcy is submissive in the bedroom, but this causes problems in her fighting career - she freezes in submission holds.  This puts not only her career, but also her life at risk.  Her coach, Reid, calls in Jax to help.  Jax is a former MMA fighter who has gone on to become a psychologist.  He uses his new skills to coach fighters and help them overcome mental barriers.  As soon as Marcy and Jax meet the chemistry between them is explosive which makes fight training awkward.  Jax instantly recognises Marcy as a submissive, but due to a painful past experience she denies her true nature.

This book is truly hot, the sparks between Marcy and Jax leap from the page.  There is some BDSM content, but it is light and well written.  There is also a strong emotional connection between them, which scares Jax.  After losing loved ones in the past he is determined to never have a serious relationship so he can't be hurt again.  I enjoyed the push and pull between these two.  They were determined to keep things professional, but the chemistry and bond between them was too strong to resist.

As well as the romantic storyline, we follow Marcy's struggle to beat the problems she's having with her fighting career.  As a MMA fan I found this absolutely fascinating, and I was impressed by the detail and realism that the author brought to this story.  I also loved the camaraderie between all of the fighters at Club Excelsior.  The supporting cast in this novella was fantastic - my favourite was Two-Step.  The big gentle giant was adorable, he was so protective of Marcy and I just melted when he called her 'baby girl'.

Yield to Me may be short, put it sure packs a punch and it gets five stars.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
